I try to post links on this blog to the various web-sites that I find to be interesting, unique, informative, or just plain fun. If you try a link and waste an hour or two just remember not to blame me when you get in trouble.

Lost Film

I am not exactly sure how I stumbled upon this website.

I suppose I initially stumbled upon the "Lost Film" pages while searching for images on Google. I then spent hours looking at the various photographs and reading the dialogue. It seems that the webmaster at the site collects old cameras and began developing any exposed film that he found in cameras that came into his possession. As he began to post the pictures on the web other folks began to send cameras and film to him and the result is what you see on these many pages.

As if that was not enough, I then discovered the true home page located at http://westfordcomp.com/ and learned that there was much more to explore. And then I decided to post some of what I had seen on my blog Horst Household Happenings. Then I realized that I had something more than that. I had just followed more "Links 2 Oblivion".

HULU

I know this is not really a conventional post but I did it any way. This evening as I was looking at a few things on the computer I discovered that HULU now has widgets for embedding on web-sites. I decided to embed one here because you could watch some of your favorite shows for quite some time. I like the older shows so I chose "Father Knows Best" and sometimes I do!

Is This Your Name?

This is a great site if you have some time to waste. The name of the the site is appropriately enough, "Is This Your Name?"

When you get there you will find the boxes for your name. If you are daring type your name in the appropriate boxes. If not, type someone else's name. Then click "Go!".

The next screen is the fun one. On this page you will find the etymology of your name, Top 5 Facts about your name, 3 Things You Didn't Know about your name, Name based search links, and finally blog posts that may have your name in them.Try the page awhile. I think you'll find it to be pleasant diversion.

The Color Game of Life

One day I was searching the Internet to find information on The Game of Life. You know, the board game by Milton-Bradley introduced in 1960 and endorsed by Art Linkletter.

I found another website about another Game of Life. I was intrigued. It turns out that this particular Game is a cellular automaton; whatever that is. I didn't linger long because I had seen a link earlier that looked interesting.

That's when I found todays link 2 oblivion: the Color Game of Life Visual Exhibition. Below is a screenshot of the landing page for the link to Color Game of Life Visual Exhibition.

I stayed on the page for almost forever trying the examples and experimenting.

the useless facts website

Here it is. Want to waste time? Try this website. It is full of completely useless facts that happen to be interesting. In fact the original title is the useless facts website. How appropriate.

Here's a screenshot. Visit and enjoy.

PS

I am told that there are currently 2945 useless facts listed. Of course that little bit of information is useless too.
